About
Mission
To help each student realize their full academic and affective potential. Vanderhoof Elementary School will be a safe, supportive environment where students become responsible, productive citizens and life-long learners.
History
Vanderhoof Elementary School was built in 1969 and was named for Thomas D. Vanderhoof.
Mr. Vanderhoof joined the teaching staff of Arvada High School in 1922, two years after the school opened. Mr. Vanderhoof taught vocational agriculture and welding. He is remembered as a visionary and a mentor, and Arvada's first honored coach. Baseball, football, and basketball flourished under his leadership. He was also a member of the first Jefferson County School Board after reorganization.
